NOTIFAL/ Coro, Estado Falcón.- La tormenta tropical "Isaac", la novena de la temporada de ciclones en el Atlántico, seguía hoy miércoles avanzando mejor organizada hacia las Antillas Menores y amenazando con transformarse en huracán el jueves, informó el Centro Nacional de Huracanes (CNH) de Estados Unidos.
"Isaac está cerca de las Antillas Menores y se emitió un monitoreo de huracán para las Islas Vírgenes", indicó el reporte de las 08H00 GMT del CNH, con sede en Miami.
Por el momento existe alerta de tormenta tropical en Martinica, Dominica, Guadalupe y San Martin, entre otras pequeñas islas del Caribe, pero más al este, para las Islas Vírgenes, Puerto Rico, el sur de República Dominicana y Haití, el CNH recomendó monitorear el ciclón, ya que sus pronósticos indican que Isaac podría convertirse en huracán el jueves.
A las 08H00 GMT de este miércoles, Isaac se encontraba a 340 km al este de Guadalupe, con vientos máximos sostenidos de 75 km/h, desplazándose al oeste a 31 km/h.
"El centro de Isaac debería moverse hacia las islas de Sotavento esta noche y desplazarse hacia el noreste del mar Caribe el jueves", dijo el CNH tras advertir que se prevé un fortalecimiento del ciclón durante las próximas 48 horas.
"Isaac podría convertirse en huracán mañana jueves", apuntó el informe meteorológico.
