Uruguay's President Jose Mujica said Thursday that he feared to have a "military coup left" in Venezuela.
"The problem that Venezuela may have is that we can see in front of a military coup left, and thus the democratic defense is going to hell," Mujica said in a preview of an interview with the newspaper El País.
According to the Uruguayan president currently "there are smart ways to destabilize a government" and "is much easier to incur a government in stupidities and make it go".
He further stressed that the Venezuelan opposition are two sectors: those who line up behind Henrique Capriles and "those who want a coup" and violence.
The Uruguayan president, who leaves office next Sunday, had said Wednesday that "there is a part of the opposition (...) who wants to be a very violent institutional channel (...) and there's another part that wants the government abdicates or flip now. Naturally any government that resigned to overturn well, and that is causing very negative voltages "capitalists helped by speculative traders.
So he called "deal that political tensions can find an institutional channel which we think is best, because any other would be an experiment" very dangerous for Venezuela.
